چکیده

Adhesive joints find numerous applications in various industrial fields. They represent a valid alternative to traditional joining methods. Much of the available scientific literature has focused on study adhesive subjected tensile loads. There have also been studies concerning stresses distributions layer. However, real case applications, could be subject cyclic tensile-compression loads and therefore buckling phenomena. The objective present paper is investigate numerical stress distribution layer under condition. presented develops with analysis single-lap joint combination steel adherends three different structural adhesives thickness Young’s modulus. are modeled using FE ANSYS©19 software. Through analyzes, it possible predict value critical load for each single analyzed combination. Once determined, middle plane determined. results obtained show that small thicknesses (i.e. 0.30 mm) reduce peaks - same by low elastic modulus (e.g. silicones).

Semi Analytical Transient Dynamic Analysis of Composite Adhesive Single-lap Joints

A novel semi analytical method is developed for transient analysis of single-lap adhesive joints with laminated composite adherends subjected to dynamical loads. The presented approach has the capability of choosing arbitrary loadings and boundary conditions. In this model, adherends are assumed to be orthotropic plates that pursuant to the classical lamination theory. Stacking sequences can be...

Analytical Solution of Stress Field in Adhesively Bonded Composite Single-Lap Joints Under Mechanical Loadings

In this paper, considering an adhesively bonded composite single-lap joint, a novel approach is presented to predict the peel and shear stress distributions of the adhesive layer for an ASTM standard test sample. In current method, the equilibrium equations are derived using the energy method and based on the Timoshenko’s beam theory. Two solution procedures then are discussed, one of which rep...

The Fuzzy Finite Element Stress Analysis of Adhesive-Bonded Single Lap Joints

An adhesive-bonded single lap joint is analyzed using a new fuzzy finite element model. In the model, Young’s moduli and Poisson’s ratios of the joint materials are taken as fuzzy numbers in order to take the uncertainty of the material properties into account. The fuzzy numbers are modeled using linear triangular membership functions. At a selected material point in the adhesive layer, the pos...

Fatigue behaviour of composite adhesive lap joints

This paper is concerned with a fatigue study of composite adhesive lap joints produced from a bi-directional woven E-glass fibres and polypropylene. The adhesive used was a Bostik 7452 (Rubber & Plastics Grade) ethyl cyanoacrylate type. The effects of layer orientation, lap joint length and water immersion on the fatigue behaviour were studied. The specimens were immersed in water during period...

Viscoelastic analysis of stress distribution in balanced and unbalanced adhesively bonded single-lap joints with functionally graded adherends under the Reddy model

In this study, shear and peel stress distributions in the viscoelastic adhesive layer of a single-lap joint (SLJ) with functionally graded (FG) adherends are investigated. The study focuses on the effect of different adherend profiles and material composition on the time-dependent stress concentration/distribution in balanced and unbalanced SLJs. For this purpose, the Reddy model is applied to ...
